Al-Darawish Al-Shamia Ensemble was founded the beginning of 2008 to play and document the musical notations of Islamic and Andalusian Muwashahat (songs usually based on an Arab-Andalusian poem, common in the countries of Syria, Egypt and North Africa.)
Another goal of Al-Darawish Al-Shamia Ensemble is to present to the listeners the Muwashahat of “Jamea’a Al-Nafahat Al-Kudsieh” book, which was gathered by Kuran-reciter and Sheikh Muhammad Arabi Al-Kabbani.
In addition, the ensemble works hard to present, in the best way possible, the classical Arabic repertoire; and to preserve and revive the authentic Arabic folklore music genres (such as Sama’is, Longas, Bashrafs, and Dulabs) and to safeguard the Arabic musical heritage in complete consistence and harmony with our Islamic rules and teachings.
Please check our “Concerts” section for details on our forthcoming concerts and performances.
